A Paris Must...

The Louvre isn't just Paris' most iconic museum, it's one of the most famous museums in the world.

The Louvre Museum is the museum for any art or history buffs. It's home to the most famous painting in the world, The Mona Lisa, as well as classical masterpieces like Bernini’s Sleeping Hermaphroditus.

Why Visit The Louvre Museum?

Why

Each work of art has a story, and before becoming a museum, the Louvre was a palace, and before that a fortress. So for history lovers, there's plenty to discover and explore.

Even for those who aren't normally into history or art though, the Louvre is an incredibly impressive building and the collection of artwork it houses is truly mesmerising.

Faq?

On Wednesdays and Fridays the museum is open later into the night (9:45pm). These evenings can make for a magical experience at the museum, with minimal crowds and the Grand Pyramid lit up.

One mistake people often make is underestimating how big the Louvre Museum is. It's the largest art museum in the world! Even if you just pick out a few sections you want to see, you'll still need a full day to see the Louvre.

If you want a quick in-and-out Louvre visit, just to see the Mona Lisa, it's best to have a game plan. Make sure you know where it is - on the 1st floor, in the Denon Alley.

Tip: If you get there for opening or on a Wednesday or Friday night, you won’t have to battle through as many people.

Lots of museums stop you from taking photos and videos, but you'll be pleased to hear the Louvre isn't one of them. You can take photos and videos anywhere in the museum apart form the temporary exhibition rooms. You just can't use flash.
