Why live on the edge when you can jump off?

Bungee, or Bungy Jumping is very high on adrenaline junkies lists. Jumps can be from bridges and dams, to moving objects such as helicopters and hot air balloons. Whichever you choose to jump off the feeling is always euphoric.

There are locations all around the world to get your fix but as with many entries, some are more iconic and spectacular than others.

Do you want to hurl towards the earth experiencing pre fall and a pure rush of adrenaline? Of course you do!

A little Bit of History

Adrenaline Junky's have members of the Oxford University Dangerous Sports Club to thank for the Bungee Jump to become a thing. They took an old Vanuatu ritual of vine jumping, and came up with the idea of jumping from Clifton Suspension Bridge.

They continued even after multiple arrests, including jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge in California, from hot air balloons and cranes.

By 1986, one man would change the world of bungee jumping forever, and make it the commercial draw that it is today. That man was A.J Hackett. A New Zealand Entrepreneur who made a bungee jump from Auckland's Greenhithe Bridge. By 1987 he was on a quest to grow the sport, and did so in style by jumping from the Eiffel Tower. While this did get him imprisoned briefly he had met his goal.

A year later in 1988, the Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge in Queenstown became the first public commercially open bungee jump in the world, and and since then there have been more locations added around the world.

Nevis Bungee, New Zealand AJ Hackett

The Nevis Highwire bungee jump is a spectacular jump, which is from a cabin. It's not the most sturdy starting point like a bridge and a dam, meaning that your nerves as you get into the cable car and dangle above the Nevis River can be somewhat increased.
